Our insulators are used in many applications for medium voltage electrical distribution equipment.  From outdoor switches to indoor substations, these insulators provide mechanical support and electrical clearances for live parts such as switch contacts and bus bars.

We specialize in molding cycloaliphatic resin-based materials.  Our long experience with these materials for components used in outdoor applications has proven their high degree of mechanical durability, sustained electrical withstand strength, and resistance to the elements.  This material is used extensively for our indoor insulators as well.

   

We mold inserts for mounting screws directly into the insulator body using a technique that ensures a permanent bond between the insert and the insulator body. Post type insulators feature tapered root diameters to enhance their cantilever strength while maintaining creepage distance. Standoff Insulators are made to standard dimensions to meet basic electrical clearance standards. Insulators used for switch applications (Switch Insulators) have standard bolting patterns for mounting and attaching switch parts.

Insulators are also available with extended creepage distances for use in hostile environments such as coastal areas and locations with excessive dust, other airborne contaminants or chemical vapors.

Our insulators are generally more rugged than similar products made of porcelain.  They have higher strength in cantilever, compression, and tension loadings and offer many other advantages over their porcelain counterparts.  They do not suffer from the same inherent tracking problems if subjected to arcing faults as porcelain insulators. The cycloaliphatic epoxy material does not depend upon surface coating to resist tracking.  For more details please refer to our Insulator Data Sheets.
